Personal Lines

Auto | Home | Watercraft | Motorcycle | Umbrella | ATV | Motor Home, Travel Trailers | Mobile Homes | Dwelling Fire | Inland Marine

Most people are familiar with auto insurance. From the time we learn to drive, the necessity and expense of coverage are common conversations. Without proper coverage, even a relatively minor injury sustained in a fender bender can go beyond what a policy might cover and wreak havoc on personal finances.

An auto insurance policy is a policy that can provide coverage for:

  • bodily injury liability resulting from a collision caused by the insured
  • collision property damage coverage
  • comprehensive property damage not caused by a collision
  • medical payments
  • rental reimbursement
  • towing/labor
  • hired and non owned coverage
  • underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage

Homeowners Insurance is a Broad protection package policy that typically covers the insured and his or her spouse, children, resident relatives and certain other persons under the age of 21 (living in the same household) against fire, personal liability exposure and other Perils.

Home sweet home and for many of us, our house is our greatest material asset. Most homeowners purchase insurance at the same time as they buy a home and then life goes on. Homeowner’s insurance policies have some nuances, however that merit periodic attention. As part of your insurance needs, we recommend you verify how your homeowners limits are meeting your needs in these areas : coverage limits, personal property, personal liability, exclusions-limitations as well as discounts and credits.

We also provide coverage options for mobile homes, dwelling fire and inland marine.

Boat and watercraft coverage under a homeowner’s policy is very limited. Watercraft personal property coverage may be limited to $1000, while personal liability coverage is restricted to primarily non motorized types of watercraft. If you own a motorized boat or sailboat over 26’ you most likely should have a separate watercraft policy.

Umbrella Insurance provides broad insurance beyond traditional home and auto. It provides additional liability coverage above the limits of homeowners’, auto and boat insurance policies. It can also provide for claims that may be excluded by the primary policy. A personal umbrella policy is a very important part of an overall protection plan for a family. It protects the family “assets” from large monetary losses that can result from 3rd party liability, auto accidents and property losses. We recommend that a family with small children, children that drive and those that have sons/daughters away from home have an Umbrella Policy to help mitigate large monetary losses that may occur from the activity of children.

Bonds | Surety (Probate, Contract, License & Permit, etc.)

Probate Bonds

Probate bonds, also referred to as executor or administrator bonds, are insurance policies that cover the probate process. Required by the Probate Court, a probate bond ensures that all terms of the will are carried out by the executor accurately and without negligence.

Probate is the legal process by which an estate is settled. Whether an estate has a will or not, the process of probate guides the steps that need to be taken on behalf of the deceased. The probate process involves three main steps; Categorize all assets of the deceased, Settle all debts, Disperse balance of assets to beneficiaries. A probate court oversees the probate process.

A bond guarantees to the court, heirs and creditors that the executor will carry out all the terms of the will accurately. If the executor or administrator mishandles assets of the estate, the heirs and creditors can make a claim against the bond.

The purpose of the bond provided by the Fiduciary is not for their protection, but to protect the minors, heirs, incompetents or creditors of the estate or property assets. This bond does not an expiry date and may continue indefinitely until another action of the court takes place.

Fidelity Bond

A fiduciary is someone who has been appointed by the courts to manage property or assets of people and businesses who are unable to manage these affairs on their own. They are usually appointed by the courts with specific mandates to carry out activities and are asked to guarantee the performance of their duty by posting a form of bond. The most common types are: Administrator/Executor/Trustee of Estates, Conservator, Guardian, Receiver of Rents, Operating Trustee, Trustee, Trustee in Bankruptcy.

Surety Bond

A Surety Bond guarantees a 2nd party, the owner that a 3rd party called the principal will successfully perform actions agreed to under the terms of a contract. The most common type of surety bonds are those issued in connection with a construction project. Another common surety bond is a criminal bond or bail bond required by a criminal court. This type of bond is usually done by a specialty bail bondsman.

Veterans Bond

We have the special privilege of being approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide “Legal Custodian” bonds for members of our Military. These are through the Legal Office of Mr. T.O. Rainey, Attorney At Law.

Commercial Auto

A properly written commercial auto policy is an important cornerstone of your overall insurance plan for reduction of financial risk to your firm. Correct coverage and limits are necessary to provide a level of protection for your assets from large claims. This can be accomplished by a thorough review of commercial auto coverage options to include include: liability, collision, comprehensive, medical payments hired and non-owned auto as well as many other optional coverage’s considerations Several questions you should be able to answer——

  • What “symbol” is on your policy?
  • What liability limits do you have and are they adequate?
  • Do you have a personal auto policy?
  • Are you driving a company vehicle?
  • Do you need “DOC”?
  • Do you operate a “fleet”?

Did you know that how you control your fleet operations has a direct impact on the cost of your auto insurance. Do you have equipment attached to the bed of your truck? Is it mobile equipment? Is it covered? What is the definition of mobile equipment under your auto policy? Do you need “lease gap coverage, hired car physical damage or rental reimbursement?

A personal auto policy may exclude coverage for commercial uses of your vehicle and a commercial auto policy may be required.

Business Owner's Commercial Package

Commercial insurance can be a either a single policy or a package policy—also can be called a Business Owners Policy. Every package policy must contain two parts: property and liability.
